Abstract

The relationship between university preservice instruction and the complex demands faced by teachers in the field has been questioned. Of particular concern has been the preparation of special education teachers to work effectively in inclusive classroom settings. This study was conducted to determine the relevancy of university-based preservice training in learning strategy instruction. In general, this training was viewed as practical, useful, and beneficial. Areas that need to be addressed in preservice training are discussed along with implications and relationship between university preservice and school district inservice.
