Abstract

Establishing eligibility for accessing college learning disabilities services poses many problems for service providers because of definitional and assessment issues. The state of Georgia, under the auspices of the Board of Regents, established criteria for determining eligibility based on the Interagency Committee on Learning Disabilities (ICLD) definition and applying a clinical model in making eligibility decisions. Three regional centers were established to provide assessment or evaluate previous documentation (following established criteria), as well as training and technical assistance to university system schools within their geographical areas. Assessment and definitional issues are discussed, as is the Georgia Model.
