Concerns of Professionals and Consumers Regarding Postsecondary Education for Students with Learning Disabilities

Abstract

Increasing numbers ofstudents with learning disabilities accessing higher education have resulted in the need of both consumers and professionals for further knowledge in this area. Consumers are actively seeking information about program options and their rights as matriculating students. Professionals are also interestedin these issues as well as in information that will enable them to provide appropriate services or develop support programs for students with learning disabilities. There are indications that an effective means of disseminating infonnation to both consumers and professionals is through networking. VariOllS ways in which collaboration may occur are discussed.
