Abstract

During the pastdecade there have been significant changes in the field oflearning disabilities. Withthe passage ofP.L.94142 handicapped children now are eligible for free educational and rehabilitation services in the least restrictive environment. Although there are many excellent public school programs, some parents wish to explore other alternatives or seek a second opinion. In addition, some may want to consider summer camps or special after-school programs. Because of the variability in types of services, parents often request assistance with the decision-making process. At the request of the ACLD, Inc. Board of Directors, members of the Professional Advisory Board have formulated questions that parents may wish to raise when contacting special schools or agencies.
