Abstract

As students with disabilities attend postsecondary education and request accommodations on highstakes exams, documentation of their disability and how it impacts their learning is even more important. This overarching reality is a result of several factors. These include the legal protections for individuals with disabilities, changes in the service delivery system between secondary and postsecondary schools, and the goals and missions of the test agencies which administer specific tests. The purpose of this article is to identify those factors that influence the acquisition of test accommodations, and offer possible solutions for bridging the gaps.
