Concrete is Not Just for Buildings: An Experiential Approach to Teaching Children with Learning Disabilities

Abstract

Children with learning disabilities who are concrete learners are described. An experiential teaching approach developedby the authoris basedon the works ofPiaget andDewey, as well as current infonnation-processing research. The experiential learning approach stresses the arts across the curriculum, academic clubs, and the teaching of academic subjects through concrete experiences, strategies, and creativity.
